If I’m totally honest, Electric Chair / Elephant is the only place outside of Mad Racket in Sydney which feels completely like home for me, as much as I still love playing most weekends, revisiting fabulous old haunts or discovering completely fresh and exciting new ones, this place is where I’d be, unconditionally

I DID manage to record my set from last week at the excellent Sirup club, but only through the Mic input…
I do kind of like it as you get a feel for the atmosphere, OK the audio quality is akin to a C90 recording from 1987, but that’s all part of the charm (I guess !)

It’s also an absolute honour to be joining the esteemed residents and special guests at Back To Basics 20th Birthday celebrations in London on Dec 17th
I’ve had so many amazing nights at Basics over the years, as a punter and a guest – it really is an institution and no small miracle they’ve made it this far !

Well our ‘big thing in a little basement’ is about to reach the ripe old age of one !

We started the night with a view to having the closest thing we could to a house party, an intimate, blink-and-you’ll-miss-it space, good sound, bar ’til 5 and the finest sounds around. Luckily for us we managed to convince a good few likeminded souls that it was a good idea too.
We’ve punched well above our weight with guests like Crazy P, Luke Unabomber, Luke Solomon & Rob Mello, I:Cube and as a special treat for the birthday bash: CHEZ DAMIER !!

Getting in the studio is usually last thing on my list of ‘to-do’s’ these days, and luckily this was one of those late night sessions where you catch an idea and bring it all together very quickly. I never have much faith in my own productions, but this one has dropped pretty heavy everywhere from intimate basement parties to the Sancho Panza stage at carnival !
One of my favourite producers at the moment CHICAGODAMN handles the B Side amazingly, bringning 100% raw, warehouse sonics to the fore !

Released on October 3rd all being well – limited vinyl run

I’ll be joining in celebrations with Rich Clark and the wonderful Freakin’ crew in York next weekend on Oct 1st for their fourteenth birthday bash.
Freakin’ is such an institution, from their mid-nineties debut at the Arts Centre to their current home at Stereo, the team has a passion and commitment to what they do that is so rare these days and I absolutely love playing there – this will be a very special occasion for sure !

Kicking off in October I’ll be joining Derrick Carter, Luke Solomon and Matthew Styles at the ace Panorama Bar on October 29th, for a night, morning and afternoon of the finest sounds around…

I’ll be making my yearly pilgrimage to the Notting Hill Carnival again next weekend, last year was marred by a way too heavy and aggressive police presence, as I’m sure this year’s will be too in light of recent events in London and elsewhere, but the only way to tackle the knee-jerk nonsense from the government is to turn out in force and in peace and make sure it stays as it should – a uniquely British celebration of our culture and it’s music and people

So, first things first I’m playing Sunday daytime at the legendary SANCHO PANZA street party. SP has become a carnival institution and I’m honoured to be a part of their stellar line-up !

Following that on Sunday night, there’s this splendid carnival top-up party at the Regent in Kensal Green – Tickets are almost sold out I hear, so click the flyer below for more info & get busy !
